A friend and I were already reserved at another hotel in downtown Edmonton but checked out after it was nasty! We found Sandman Hotel online with a good rate and gave it a try. The staff were very helpful and friendly and our room was clean and nicely furnished. Obviously it has been updated recently. Although a little loud in the morning (while people go by with their bags) it was quiet through the night. The pool was small and quite deep so I'd recommend keeping your kids close but it was nice enough. Plus you can't beat the convenience of being so close to Mayfair and West Edmonton Mall and all the restaurants within walking distance inc. McDonald's, KFC, Denny's, Pizza Hut. I'll stay again :)

08/23/2007The hotel is conveniently located next to a super mall and a supercentre. great for shopping. there are a lot of restaurants around the hotel.

Don't recommend the Denny's at the hotel. The service was semi ok and the food was not that great. Also there are not enough parking for this hotel when it is fully booked it may be a challenge to find a parking space.
The hotel staff were generally present. The swimming pool is small but good enough for small kids.
The rooms are a little disappointing. The air conditioning unit was an old 4 HP unit and you really need to get the knob to high and make sure you leave on high for the whole day so that it will be nice and cool at night. But you cannot open the windows so you have to leave the unit on at night and it can be noisy.
The shower unit that we had was leaking water and also the washroom was so dark you may need to bring your flashlight.
Overall for $*/night it was not a total bad deal and also the hotel is about 6 minutes drive from west Edmonton Mall. -

first of all, when we got to our room we ...Let's see. Me and the girlfriend usually stay at another hotel but decided to give this a try.
First of all, when we got to our room we decide to make some phone calls because we were purchasing a new car. There were two phones in the room and both didin't work. So after complaning about this we finally got someone to look at it the next day. Thus having to leave the room and use the one at the front desk every hour.
The air conditioner was not working and the carpets were so bad we had to keep our shoes on. On top of this we were told they had internet. Being in on business this was also a joke. They gave us this box to hook into the wall and into our laptop. However, this didn't work. Big surprise!!.. So we had to keep going down to the common area to use the computers to access the internet.
I don't know if they have secrurity or not, but having to walk pass homeless people hanging around the front of the building at night was ridiculous, some guy even approached me to buy a sword. How messed up was that.
Never in my life will I ever consider going there again. Sure from the pictures the hotel looks nice but for $* more a night, you could stay in heaven comapared to this place. -

I stayed here while traveling in Edmonton. The hotel wasn't very good at all. Air conditioning in the room didn't really work. Bed was uncomfortable. Had to haul my bags up 2 flights of stairs as there were no elevators.
I ended up checking out after my first night at this hotel and went to a new one. Save yourself some time and book somewhere else.
